Narrator for bastion game8/8/2023 Yet I would add that there is also nothing special about the combat compared to other advanced beat-'em-ups, and the enemy designs are really lame. But that doesn't mean that Bastion's gameplay is lackluster it's still a solid beat-'em-up with a number of weapons and special abilities to choose from. It almost felt like Bastion is a demo version of Hades. Bastion is the first entry of Supergiant Games, the developer of Hades, and there are lots of similarities between Bastion and Hades in terms of gameplay. But overall this is a wonderful game, and the importance it has in being one of the first indie games to truly bring them to the mainstream is huge, and is the reason we've gotten so many wonderful indie games.ħh PlayedBastion is a great game if you cherish a unique story and a beautiful art design. Also there was some stiffness with movement, and they hadn't nailed that perspective yet so sometimes it was hard to tell what you could or couldn't walk on, or certain hitboxes on your attacks as well as enemy's attacks. The proving grounds were okay, feeling a little dated as a mechanic and some were wildly easy, and the others were super super difficult. I will say though, this game does have some jank. The combat is really good, with every weapon feeling different with a different purpose to fulfill a niche and you can create some really fun combinations along with skills. The soundtrack doesn't have many songs, but all of them are fantastic and unique. There is a wealth of content and the story is insanely good with a few choices that have you go through it again and again. There is a reason that the game takes about six hours to complete, and thirty to a hundred percent. The narrarator did wonderful in telling the story and delivering his lines perfectly and the variety of builds, items, games, and replayability is insane. The visuals are truly a painting, looking absolutely beauitful with interesting, variety, gorgeous drawn worlds and items. I was using this as a cheap test of whether or not I wanted to get Hades, and now I'm pretty sure I do.ĥh PlayedThis game is amazing. Overall, my short time with Bastion was quite enjoyable. The consequences of falling aren't that bad (you lose a few HP, and the narrator makes fun of you), but you shouldn't have to just try it and see. One more minor quibble is that there are a few occasions where it's hard to distinguish the background from the foreground, at least on the Switch's screen, which sometimes caused me to walk right into a hole. You eventually get access to a bunch of options to make enemies stronger and such, but I didn't because I didn't know if the game would continue to be easy. It reminded me of the show Firefly, which you should watch. One of the songs (The Slinger, according to YouTube) felt very familiar, but I'm not sure why.
